Commissioned Original Paintings
Hi, As I am doing commissioned original paintings, its worth letting you know my procedure in case you are interested in having one, or know someone else who might be.
My practice is to really listen to what you want and then produce a preliminary sketch or sketches based on this, free of charge.
If you are happy with a particular sketch and for me to go ahead and produce your painting, I then ask for 50% of the agreed fee at this point, with the remaining 50% to be paid upon the completion and approval by you of your painting.
The painting can also be viewed by you at any time during its production.
Girl and MermaidI find the pre-approved sketch (which I originally followed for some illustration work) means the buyer is happy and confident about what is being produced while at the same time being very excited about the upcoming completed piece.
Prices can range from $500 for a simple delicate watercolour-style painting, to $5000 for a piece that will require more time to produce.
